Biondo y Caggiano leave the rival behind at Roberto Mouras

The same two names headed Saturday's practice at the Roberto Mouras circuit in La Plata. Nicolás Biondo was quickest in Class A, while Ronnie Caggiano, sharing the car with Carli Bava, led Class B. The results did not bring a twist: the order from Friday remained intact.

Biondo wins by a narrow margin

Biondo posted a best lap of 1m37s411 in the Dodge prepared by Guarnaccia Motorsport. Gastón Rossi, the champion, was only 91 thousandths of a second behind in another Dodge. Leonardo Nowak completed the podium with a Chevrolet, 95 thousandths off the benchmark.

There was no room for comfort in the final sector. The gap between Biondo and Rossi was tiny, but enough to keep the lead at the close of the session. The rest of the top ten was completed by Oscar Sánchez, Alan Guevara, Emanuel Pérez Bravo, Germán Pietranera, Juan Farabello, Ramiro Dailoff and Fabrizio Maggini.

  • 1st place: Nicolás Biondo, Dodge, Guarnaccia Motorsport, 1m37s411
  • 2nd place: Gastón Rossi, Dodge, 91 thousandths behind
  • 3rd place: Leonardo Nowak, Chevrolet, 95 thousandths behind

For me, the duel with Rossi is the clearest sign of the strength of this category. Biondo found the limit and the champion stayed right on his tail. I've seen drivers celebrate hundredths that were worth much more; here, every corner can change the picture. Saturday's promise is that the fight will go all the way to the final lap.

Caggiano also kept control

In Class B, Ronnie Caggiano was also the fastest on both Saturday sessions. His best time with the Dodge of José C. Paz Racing, alongside Carli Bava, was 1m41s692. Joaquín Pasquale finished 235 thousandths behind in a Chevrolet, while Germán Pietranera, driving a Ford with Roque Caggiano, was 414 thousandths off the lead.

Caggiano's advantage appears more comfortable, but the category has shown that a single mistake can alter the order. Santiago Pasquale, Ariel García, Mario Andreoli, Gabriel Villalba, Santiago Florio, Francisco Florio and Francisco Tamagno completed the top ten. The qualifying classification for both divisions was scheduled for 2:07 p.m. on Saturday.

The next rival is waiting: the official qualifying classification will establish who starts from the front and who will have to chase from behind. The track, as always, will have the final word.
